N,O-Bis(trimethylsilyl)trifluoroacetamide is an organosilicon reagent for trimethylsilylation, deprotection, dehydrogenation, allylic alkylation, nitronate formation, and Claisen rearrangement. BSTFA is a silylating agent used in the synthesis of 4-Quinolones.
